Chukwudi Iwuji Was James Gunn’s Only Choice For ‘GOTG’ Villain

Chukwudi Iwuji is the MCU’s newest villain and he couldn’t be more excited.

The actor plays the High Evolutionary in the third installment of Guardians Of The Galaxy, and was directors James Gunn’s only choice for the role.

Per Iwuji, Gunn approached him while filming his series The Peacemaker and offered him the part.

Fans will know the High Evolutionary from the comic books, first appearing in The Mighty Thor #134 (Nov. 1966). Iwuji did some research to develop the character, but mostly just stuck to the script.

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 3 is the last ride for the Guardians and the last time audiences will see them as they have come to know them. Stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Vin Diesel as Groot and Bradley Cooper as Rocket, all return for the final film.

Iwuji shared that the cast made him feel right at home on set.

This time around our favorite band of misfits are settling into life on Knowhere. But it isn’t long before their lives are upended by the echoes of Rocket’s turbulent past. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him on a dangerous mission to save Rocket’s life.

“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3”  blasts into theaters on May 5th.
