The felony assault trial of singer Tory Lanez is underway and HipHollywood was inside the courtroom at the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center in Los Angeles.

Lanez is accused of shooting rap star Megan Thee Stallion in the foot after a party in the Hollywood Hills on July 2020.

On Tuesday Megan was called as a witness for the prosecution. The 27-year-old arrived wearing a belted purple suit, and directed a smile at a group of cheering fans who’d been waiting in the hallway to see her.

Meanwhile Lanez entered the building shortly after while holding hands with his young son.

For four hours on the witness stand Megan spoke in detail about the wild July 2020 night that started at Kylie Jenner’s house and ended with her in handcuffs and later in a Los Angeles hospital with bullet fragments in her feet.

Megan recounted her personal relationships with Lanez, who she admitted to having a sexual relationship with as well. She also spoke about her relationship with her former assistant Kelsey Nicole who was also in the vehicle.

According to Megan she and Lanez began arguing after she wanted to leave Jenner’s house and he didn’t. Her stylist had left the party, and she therefore needed Lanez to give her a ride.

Megan says inside the car, Tory was arguing with both she and Kelsey and calling them b*thces and other expletives. She said she got out of the vehicle on a main street because things got so heated. She said she was facing the car and saw Lanez shoot her as he stood above her on one of the SUV’s steps.

“I’m in shock. I’m scared. I hear the gun going off, and I can’t believe he’s shooting at me,” she said.

She said emphatically towards the end of her testimony, “I don’t know why he shot me but he shot me.”

Texts from Lanez to Megan in which he apologized and said he “genuinely just got too drunk” but “can’t change what I did” were read in court.

The Instagram Live video that Megan made on August 20, 2020 where she confessed that Tory shot her was also played in court. She said that she made the video to clear her name. She also said she never intended to come forward  but only did so because of things Tory’s team were saying about her online.

When asked by prosecutors how life has been since the incident she got very emotional. “I feel like maybe I should be dead,” after admitting that she sunk into a depression after the shooting.

“My peers, no one wants to associate with me, she continued. “Like I’m a sick bird. No one wants to associate with my drama.”

During cross-examination by the defense team, she was asked several tines about the seating arrangement in the car and was even asked to draw a diagram. The defense asked her several times if she and Kelsey got into an argument and if there was tension between them.

According to Megan, Kelsey had a “crush” on Tory and was upset after learning about their sexual relationship. Per Megan after Tory told Kelsey things began to spiral out of control.

Kelsey is expected to testify as a witness for the prosecution.
