DJ Jazzy Jeff Calls Will Smith Slap “A Lapse Of Judgment”
DJ Jazzy Jeff is standing by his friend Will Smith two weeks after the fall out from slapping Chris Rock at the Academy Awards.
Jazzy discussed the controversy during a live event in Chicago with WGCI Morning Show host Kyle Santillian.
“It was a lapse of judgment, and I think the thing that I realized is I don’t know too many people that has had the least amount of lapse of judgment than him,” he explained. “I can name 50 times when he should’ve smacked the sh*t outta somebody, and he didn’t. So for him to have a lapse of judgment, he’s human.”

Jazzy is not the only former Fresh Prince Of Bel Air star to come to Will’s defense. Janet Hubert who played OG Aunt Viv also defended Smith’s actions in the days following.
“So PROUD OF YOU!” she wrote in a Instagram post before pivoting to the slap. “There is only so much one can take… sometimes you have to slap back,” she argued. “Celebrate the win… nothing else matters. Both actions were incorrect but Chris didn’t need to go there. Met him once… it was enough for me… very mean spirited.”
Meanwhile Smith has apologized to Rock, resigned from the Academy and has now been banned from Academy events for the next 10 years.
