Nick Cannon Addresses Talk Show Cancellation

Nick Cannon’s talk show is being canceled after just six months on the air.

According to Page Six, Debmar-Mercury, the company behind the show, has decided to pull the plug citing low ratings.

Celebrity 411 recently reported  Cannon’s talker was the lowest rated daytime talk show this season, picking up just 400,000 viewers. Sources told the site ratings also “show no signs of growth.”

There was also chatter that networks are looking for a spot for Jennifer Hudson’s new talk show which resulted in Nick being cut.

Cannon addressed the cancellation Thursday morning chalking up the surprising announcement to “show business.”

“It’s interesting. This is show business, and the biggest word is ‘business,’” he began. “I show up each and every day, bright and early to give you a show, and I am also a businessman.”

Calling the opportunity to host his own show a “dream come true,” Cannon continued, “I want to expand and elevate. We ain’t going nowhere, but it’s about broadening my audience.”

The host, 41, described his viewers as “family” and thanked them for tuning in.

Cannon snagged the gig in 2020 after impressing producers with his daytime talents when he filled in for Wendy Williams during her long absence due to ill health.

He was also a hot commodity when the show was announced because Fox’s “The Masked Singer,” which he hosted, had become the No. 1 new show, drawing “more than 17 million… viewers in its record-breaking 2018 debut.”
