Rapper Adolph Robert Thornton, Jr., better known by his stage name Young Dolph, was shot and killed in Memphis, Tennessee, on Wednesday, according to local law enforcement and news outlets.

According to reports, Dolph was ambushed as he visited one of his favorite cookie shops in his hometown of Memphis. Witnesses say the rapper went into the store, and a vehicle pulled up, firing through a front window where he was ultimately killed.
The video posted online shows Dolph visiting the same cookie store just a week ago. Dolph’s attorney and friend, Scott Hall, said the rapper was scheduled to hand out turkeys Wednesday and stopped at the cookie store where he was killed before the charity event.

Dolph’s killer is unknown at this time, but police are apparently ready for any possible retaliation that may come and camped outside the Memphis restaurant owned by rapper Yo Gotti one of Dolph’s rivals.
According to TMZ swarms of police cars were stationed outside Prive restaurant — about 10 miles from where Dolph was killed. The feud between Dolph and Gotti has been percolating for years.
Dolph began getting national attention in 2014 with the release of his mixtape “High Class Street Music 4″ and the single “Preach,”.
In 2016, he released his debut studio album, King of Memphis.
