Lena Waithe Says ‘Boomerang’ Not Returning For Season 3
BET has decided to cancel dramedy series ‘Boomerang’ after just 2 seasons.
On Wednesday Lena Waithe, who is an executive producer on the show, shared the news on Instagram writing:
“I am so proud of this series, thank ya’ll for watching Boomerang! It’s been a wonderful journey building and rocking with everyone, so thank you for riding with us. We had a such a great run for 2 seasons, a lot of amazing folks contributed time and energy into this show.”
“Lots of love and light as we come to the end of the road,” she added, “Sending ya’ll so much love.”

The comedy based on the 1992 romantic comedy starring Eddie Murphy debuted on BET in 2019. Halle Berry who also starred in the film served as an EP on the show.
The updated version follows the lives of Jacqueline Boyer’s son, Bryson, and Marcus and Angela Graham’s daughter, Simone, as they try to step out of their parents’ shadows and create their own legacies.

BET has not officially announced the series would not be returning but according to Waite seasons 1 and 2 can be viewed on BET+.
