Ruby Rose Gushes Over Working With Morgan Freeman In ‘Vanquish’
Ruby Rose may have stepped away from The CW’s “Batwoman” after one season, but she’s still kicking butt and taking names. The 35-year-old actress can currently be seen in the action flick Vanquish opposite Morgan Freeman and she couldn’t be more excited.
“Probably the most enjoyable thing was working with director George Geller who I love and Morgan Freeman,” she told HipHollywood.
“Words can’t express what it means to work with someone who has such an amazing body of work and is such a professional and he’s funny, a great scene partner, he’s just a force so whenever he just says your name on set you’re like God, did God just say me name? That was a real blast.”
In the film Rose plays the caretaker of wheelchair-bound retired police commissioner Damon (Morgan Freeman), who takes her daughter hostage and leverages her past as a Russian drug courier against her.
For Rose pulling off the action sequences was a no-brainer, the challenge was tapping into the emotional side of the character.
“There wasn’t anything hugely difficult or challenging as far as the action goes but what I liked is she goes into every single scene with a different intention and feeling and that is different than any other character I’ve played,” she explains. “The biggest reason to be doing these things is her daughter so the stakes are really high.”
Rose’s Victoria is tasked with completing five increasingly dangerous assignments before getting her child back — which required her to use guns, guts, and a motorcycle to take out a series of violent gangsters.
“I also got to ride around on a Harley, I got to drive this $700,000 McClaren, it was definitely a fun film to make,” she said with a huge smile.
Vanquish (in theaters now and available on Demand) is just one of two action-packed films starring Rose. She can also be seen in SAS: Red Notice and told us she has more films to come directed by veteran George Gallo.
We can’t wait!
