See Tessica Brown After Gorilla Glue Removal & The Black Doctor Who Made It Happen!
The Gorilla Glue saga is finally over!
It’s been a week since Tessica Brown brought us into her world and revealed she had Gorilla Glue bonded to her hair for over a month. And now, after various home remedies, a trip to the ER, and even cutting off some of her hair, to no avail, Brown finally found relief at the hands of a generous doctor.
Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Obeng saw Tessica’s story and jumped into action. After researching Gorilla Glue and concocting his own scientific solution, he offered to perform the adhesive removal on Brown free of charge — a charge that would usually run a cool $12,500.
Thankfully, Tessica took him up on his offer and after 4 painstaking hours Dr. Obeng was able to carefully remove all of the industrial strength glue from Brown’s head — saving her hair in the process! TMZ captured the procedure and Tessica’s reaction to finally being able to run her fingers thorough her hair.
Those who have been following the story on social media rejoiced over the news of Tessica’s success story and the Black doctor who made it happen.
Why I appreciate is both Dr. Obeng’s immense generosity, and also his recognition that in order to minimize pain & damage, there’d have to be things like aloe vera and olive oil to help soothe the scalp as the acetone and adhesive remover worked.
THAT’s care. From a Black doc🙏🏾 https://t.co/x68wqqooXX

Tessica’s positive outcome is proof of why Black doctors are so necessary in healthcare; not only did Dr Obeng create his own solution but he saved her hair!

…and so much of her hair was saved. Thought she would be bald but Dr Obeng created a solution because his background is in chemistry and because he’s Black and he understands the Black woman’s experience. Representation matters! Happy Black history month ✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿

I really love that a Black surgeon, Dr. Obeng, was able to save her hair. It’s a beautiful end to what could have been a tragic tale.
His words of “any compound can be broken down” show the brilliance of knowledge in your craft & science. https://t.co/bKzo7XgOeR
