Issa Rae Says Season 5 Will Be The Last For “Insecure”

All good things must come to an end, but we have to admit, we weren’t ready for this one — Issa Rae has re-confirmed that the fifth season of Insecure will be its final one.

OK, yes, Issa said this from the beginning, but people say a lot of things that don’t always pan out. And honestly, we were hoping that she changed her mind. But nope, after an amazing four seasons on HBO, the comedy Rae created, which stemmed from her web series Awkward Black Girl, is ready to come to a close after one more hurrah.

“Prentice and I are so grateful that HBO believed in our show from the beginning and kept faith in us to see our vision through the end,” co-creator and star Issa Rae told Deadline of the Emmy nominated comedy she executive produces with Prentice Penny.

“We always planned to tell this story through five seasons, but we couldn’t have made it this far without the tremendous support of our audience,” the recently minted Television Academy Executive Committee member added. “I feel blessed beyond measure to bring our characters’ stories to an end, on-screen at least.”
