Wendy Williams Addresses Fan Concerns And Rumors She’s On Drugs
Wendy Williams is addressing fan concern that she may no longer be sober.
Following Friday’s episode of her eponymous talk show, folks took to Twitter begging her to get some help. The veteran TV host stammered and stuttered throughout the show and at one point even called singer Adele, “Hodel”.
She ended up catching the mistake but overall appeared out of it and winded trying to deliver her lines.
“Look at her eyes,” wrote one fan. “Poor woman it’s so obvious that she’s high.”
“On a serious note I think Wendy has relapsed and is depressed deep down because of the divorce and then being quarantined ALONE by herself!” wrote another. “I Do think she needs to go to rehab again.”
“I’m in shock that they would allow this to air,” noted another. “I was so uncomfortable for her as she is clearly on something….. ugh.”
DJ Boof, Williams’ former disk jockey, said Sunday on social media that he feels sorry for Wendy Show staffers who are afraid to speak up and tell her to get some help.
Williams caught wind of all the talk and commented during Monday’s episode.
“I always say I love you for watching ‘cause I really, really do. I come here every day and I try to do the best that I can for you,” Williams, 56, said. “I appreciate you watching, but even after all of these years, it’s still work. An effort put in for the hour I’m out here, you know? I guess every day is not perfect, but I’m not a perfectionist. I’m not perfect.”
She continued, “I do appreciate you putting in the effort to watch us, and I love entertaining you. You know? It’s not easy. It is not easy, you’re a tough crowd.”
Williams didn’t however provide any specific reason for her behavior. As you know she has a history of health issues related to her Graves disease and even collapsed on stage back in 2017.
Sources close to the show say Williams’ issues are related to drugs and alcohol and that’s she’s self-medicating with prescription pills. Staffers, who sit-in as audience members, are at a loss for what to do and fearful of losing their jobs if they say something. Making matters worse is production company Debmar-Mercury has yet to step-in and even renewed the show for another season.
