Snoop Dogg Talks About His New Wine Line, Kanye West, Eminem And More
These days Snoop Dogg is on his grown man vibe. So much so the 48-year-old MC has gotten into the wine business.
That’s right! Snoop is no longer sipping on “Gin & Juice” as he once professed in the 1994 hit song. Instead he likes to relax with a glass of wine and has partnered with 19 Crimes for his own Cali Red Wine.
Getting Into The Wine Business
“You know what the wine game is like a tone down,” he told The Breakfast Club hosts during his recent interview. “Whenever I want to relax and not be bothered with what is going on in the world and sit back and enjoy some jazz music or a plate of spaghetti.”
His new business venture was just one of the many topics he tackled while on the show Wednesday morning. During the hour-long discussion, Snoop was his most candid and compelling self. He shared his honest opinion on Eminem as an MC, praised Master P and No Limit Records for saving his life and clarified why he was actually in the studio recently with Kanye West.
Recent Studio Session With Kanye West
According to Snoop he was there only at his mentor Dr Dre’s request, but said there is no bad blood between he and Kanye.
“When I get there, [West] is there,” Snoop explained of the session, which he says was part of Dre’s production on an upcoming West project. “He’s playing me his sh*t, it’s sounding good. His mind sounds like he’s right. He [was in] the right spirit.”
When asked if he talked to West about some of his outlandish comments and political views, which Snoop has staunchly criticized, he said they didn’t need to.
Dr. Dre’s Influence & Eminem
Snoop also gave his assessment of Dr. Dre as a producer, particularly pointing to his ability to repeatedly find and polish new talent. As an example, he pointed to Eminem’s years-long career.
“Eminem, the great white hope,” Snoop said. “White rappers had zero respect in rap. Let’s keep that 1000. None. He has probably put Eminem in a position to where he could be labeled as one of the top 10 rappers ever. I don’t think so, but the game feels like he’s a top 10 lyricist and all that comes with it … Dr. Dre helped him find the best Eminem that he could find.”
Asked to elaborate on why he wouldn’t personally include Em in any top 10 rankings, Snoop named a few of his own choices. And while Snoop says Em is “one of my brothers” and praised his creative output, he doesn’t believe his catalog is as essential in terms of hip-hop.
