Nick Cannon Demands Viacom Give Him Ownership Of Wild N’ Out

Nick Cannon is big mad at Viacom!

After Viacom announced they were ending their business relationship with Cannon for making anti-Semitic comments on his podcast “Cannon’s Class” Cannon is clapping back.

In a lengthy statement posted to his official Facebook page, the 39-year-old actor called out the media conglomerate for choosing to “make an example of an outspoken Black man.” Cannon said he is “deeply saddened” that instead of heading toward “reconciliation that the powers that be misused an important moment for us to all grow closer together and learn” from one another.

He also demanded an apology and ownership of his uber popular series Wild N’ Out.

“I demand full ownership of my billion-dollar ‘Wild ‘N Out’ brand that I created, and they will continue to misuse and destroy without my leadership! I demand that the hate and back door bullying cease and while we are at it, now that the truth is out, I demand the Apology!”

So How Did We Get Here?

During the June 30 episode, Nick called Black people the “true Hebrews.” He also talked about anti-Semitic conspiracy theories including the Rothschild family. Nick said,

“It’s never hate speech, you can’t be anti-Semitic when we are the Semitic people,” Cannon said. “When we are the same people who they want to be. That’s our birthright. We are the true Hebrews.”

On Monday (July 13) Nick Cannon spoke out on Twitter, following some of the backlash he received from the episode.

“Anyone who knows me knows that I have no hate in my heart nor malice intentions. I do not condone hate speech nor the spread of hateful rhetoric. We are living in a time when it is more important than ever to promote unity and understanding.”

“Until then, I hold myself accountable for this moment and take full responsibility because My intentions are only to show that as a beautiful human species we have way more commonalities than differences, So let’s embrace those as well as each other. We All Family!

Still Not Enough

Unfortunately it wasn’t enough to stop Viacom from cutting ties. On Tuesday a ViacomCBS spokesperson released a statement to CNN, saying that Nick has been terminated. In a statement they said,

“ViacomCBS condemns bigotry of any kind and we categorically denounce all forms of anti-Semitism. We have spoken with Nick Cannon about an episode of his podcast ‘Cannon’s Class’ on YouTube, which promoted hateful speech and spread anti-Semitic conspiracy theories. While we support ongoing education and dialogue in the fight against bigotry, we are deeply troubled that Nick has failed to acknowledge or apologize for perpetuating anti-Semitism, and we are terminating our relationship with him. We are committed to doing better in our response to incidents of anti-Semitism, racism, and bigotry. ViacomCBS will have further announcements on our efforts to combat hate of all kinds,” the company said.

Nick had a relationship with Viacom for over a decade. His journey began in the early 90’s on Nickelodeon. He’s had his MTV Wild N’ Out show since 2005.

Thankfully he still has multiple jobs on other networks. Cannon is still host on Fox’s The Masked Singer, hosts a radio show on Power 105.9 and has a syndicated talk show gearing up to drop in September produced by Telepictures and Warner Bros.
