O.J. Shares Support For Colin Kaepernick … Ford Releasing New Bronco On His Birthday
Well isn’t this ironic. Ford just announced that they are unveiling the new Ford Bronco on July 9 … which just so happens to be O.J. Simpson’s birthday.
The fallen football star, real name Orenthal James Simpson, was infamously involved in a slow-speed police chase in a Ford Bronco following the death of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman in 1994.
The chase made national news as 95 million across the globe watched the 1993 white Bronco cruising down the I-405 FWY. Simpson was in the backseat reportedly distraught while his former teammate Al Cowlings drove. At the time it was thought that Cowlings was driving Simpson’s car, but it was later revealed they had the exact same car.
Simpson has been indelibly linked to the Bronco ever since.
A spokesman for Ford said the release date is purely coincidental but says they have no plans of changing the date. Ford Motor Co. hasn’t released a new Bronco since 1996. The release was originally slated for earlier this spring but got pushed back due to the coronavirus.
Simpson hasn’t responded to the news but the Brown family is completely shocked and surprised by the move.
“I just don’t know if it’s a good marketing twist,” Tanya Brown, Nicole’s sister, told the Free Press. “My first reaction was, ‘are you kidding me? This is funny?’ ”
Simpson meanwhile is sharing his thoughts on Colin Kaepernick returing to the NFL and players taking a knee during the National Anthem.
