Kanye West Donates $2 Million To Support George Floyd’s Family
Kanye West has broken his silence. You may have noticed the rap star and avid Trump supporter has been noticeably absent in recent weeks.
West has not been holding his Sunday Service presumably because of the corona virus pandemic. But he also has not spoken out about the other disastrous pandemic ravaging our country – racism and police brutality.
Following the senseless murder of George Floyd his wife Kim Kardashian shared her grief and disgust on social media. Now it looks like her husband is doing more than just talking.
Kanye Makes A Donation
It’s being reported that West has made a $2 million donation to support the families of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor. The donation includes funding for legal fees for Arbery and Taylor’s families.
West also set up a 529 college savings fund to fully cover tuition for Floyd’s 6-year-old daughter, Gianna.
Along with that, a rep confirms Kanye’s donating to several black-owned businesses in his hometown of Chicago and nationwide that have been in crisis and impacted by the unrest in the U.S.
Other Celebs Doing Their Part
As you know … widespread protests and riots have broken out since Floyd was killed in police custody on May 25. The demonstrations are a demand for an end to systematic racism and police brutality … of which the killings of Arbery and Taylor are also prime examples.
West is just one of a handful of celebs donating to help the families. As previously reported Floyd Mayweather is covering the cost of the funeral services for Floyd in Minnesota, North Carolina and Houston.
Tyler Perry covered cost of travel for Floyd’s family from Texas to Minneapolis for the Memorial service on Thursday (June 4). He also lent his private plane to transport Rev. Al Sharpton and Gwen Carr (mother Of Eric Garner) to Minneapolis to meet Floyd’s family ahead of the service.
