6 Couples Who Appeared On ‘Black Love’ That Are Now Divorced

Hot on the heels of news that Tina Knowles Lawson has filed for divorce from husband Richard Lawson, folks on Twitter are blaming the series “Black Love” … and Richard’s Twitter likes. But we’ll come back to that.

You know Black folks love a conspiracy theory or calling something a curse, so this shouldn’t come as a surprise. Many users began pointing to other couples who have appeared on the OWN docu-series and realized they are no longer together.

Tina Knowles and Richard Lawson
Since news broke Tina filed for divorce the couples interview on Black Love has been making it’s rounds on social media as well as a compilation of the 76-year-old actors Twitter likes. If you didn’t know, anything you like on the app is available for others to see. Lawson it seems didn’t get the memo and now a thread of all his not safe for work content is circulating on line. So could his porn fetish be the reason for their split? Knowles cited irreconcilable differences and said they’ve been separated since July 25.

Neicy Nash and Jay Tucker
In October 2019, Niecy and her husband of 8 years, Jay Tucker, announced their divorce in a statement shared to Instagram. At the time she said she and Tucker were better off as friends rather than lovers. But according to TMZ, the 53-year-old actress ended her marriage with her second husband due to the strain of living in different cities as well as tensions over her graphic sex scenes on the TNT show Claws and cosmetic surgery she underwent.

LeToya Luckett and Tommicus Walker
In 2022 LeToya Luckett and her husband Tommicus Walker pulled the plug on their marriage after three years of marriage. If you watched T.I. & Tiny: Friends and Family Hustle then you know the couple was going to counseling for their marital issues. There were also allegations that Tommicus was cheating with  woman in Dallas. News surfaced while Luckett was pregnant with the couples second child. Though Tommicus denied it, it seemed to spell the beginning of the end.

Meagan Good and DeVon Franklin
Good and Franklin announced their divorce in December 2021 after nine years of marriage and finalized the split in June 2022, just a week after what would have been their 10-year anniversary. But according to Good it wasn’t her decision to split. She told Essence she was devastated that her marriage was ending saying “it was a choice I would have never made.”

Tia Mowry and Cory Hardrict
Tia shared the news of her split with Cory in October 2022. In divorce papers filed on Oct. 3 the Twitches actress cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for separation. “I wanted to share that Cory and I have decided to go our separate ways,” she wrote on Instagram at the time. She later said her two kids, son Cree, 11, and daughter Cairo, 5, who she shares with Cory— played a large part in her decision.

Cynthia Bailey and Mike Hill
In October 2022, Cynthia Bailey and Mike Hill quietly filed for divorce after nearly two years of marriage. The pair had been split for months before news surfaced online. Both Bailey and Hill said cheating was not a factor and they amicably parted ways despite reports to the contrary. Bailey also revealed the “final straw” was feeling like the pair “weren’t friends anymore.”
