Keshia Knight Pulliam Talks Filming ‘The Hillsdale Adoption Scam’ While Pregnant
Keshia Knight Pulliam is starring in Lifetime’s latest ripped from the headlines film The Hillsdale Adoption Scam.
In the film the veteran actress stars as Bethany, a woman with a successful business and marriage, but not able to bring her dream of motherhood to fruition. When a pregnant woman named Georgia shows up on their doorstep looking for help, Bethany thinks it’s a good idea to adopt her baby, but her husband is hesitant. As time moves on, the couple are uneasy and notices some unsettling things about Georgia and her devious and deceitful motives.
Pulliam who recently narrated and executive produced the OWN documentary “Eggs Over Easy” said the material really resonated with her.
“It was really interesting to me to portray this story of this woman who had everything, seemingly. She had the loving husband, she had an amazing career, the beautiful home. But the one thing that she desired most, expanding her family. She was having a time where she wasn’t able to do it. So I felt it was something that would resonate with a lot of women. And it was even crazier to do it while pregnant myself.”
Back in December Pulliam and her husband, Brad James, whom she married in October 2021, revealed they were having their first child. She told HipHollywood the whole family, including her mother, and 6-year-old daughter Ella (from a previous marriage) traveled to Canada to support her while filming.
“At first, I was like, man, can I do it?,” she said with a laugh. “I had just got to the end of that really sick period in pregnancy and was able to go up to Canada, pack the family up, the husband, Ella, my mom, and we made a movie.”
The Hillsdale Adoption Scam, also starring Danika Frederick and Michael Strickland, premieres March 18 on Lifetime.
