NBA YoungBoy Is Converting To Mormonism?
NBA YoungBoy is having a change of heart regarding his music.
In a new revelation to Billboard, the Louisiana-born rap star is showing remorse for the content of his lyrics, and looking to turn over a new leaf … by converting to Mormonism.
Believe it or not, YoungBoy released 8 full-length projects in 2022, but it doesn’t look like he’ll be cosigning his own catalog in the near future. Thanks to his newfound faith he see’s the error in his lyrical ways. He says it now troubles him to know fans, kids included, might have heard his music and been influenced to harm other people and he holds himself accountable.
“I’m not changing. I will not be provoked, I will not be broken, and I’m not going back to who I used to be. Accept it or not — I ain’t going back.”
As previously reported, the 23-year-old has been on house arrest in snowy Utah since October 2021. During this time he says he been getting close to missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
“It was just cool to see someone with a different mindset that had nothing to do with business or money — just these wonderful souls,” he tells Billboard. The missionaries now discuss The Book of Mormon with YoungBoy regularly, which accounts for his recent “Hi Haters” video opening with a quote from the Latter Day Saints tome.
He says he also plans on getting baptized with them once cops clear him to be outside without monitoring.
YoungBoy is still awaiting trial for multiple gun possession charges in Louisiana. In the meantime he and longtime girlfriend and mother of 2 of his kids — Jazlyn Mychelle — have gotten married.
In January, Michelle posted a screenshot of their marriage license to her Instagram account.
