Jada Pinkett Smith (Kinda) Addresses Oscars Slap On ‘Red Table Talk’

Jada Pinkett Smith has finally addressed the Oscars slap … well kinda.

Red Table Talk made its official return on Wednesday with special guest Janelle Monae. Prior to the start of the episode, a message alluding to the incident involving Will Smith, and Chris Rock, at the 94th annual Academy Awards appeared.

“Considering all that has happened in that last few weeks, the Smith family has been focusing on deep healing…some of the discoveries around our healing will be shared at the table when the time calls,” the message read. “Until then, the table will continue offering itself to powerful, inspiring and healing testimonies like that of our incredibly impressive first guest. Thanks for joining us, Jada.”

Other than the statement the episode did not address the incident further. Rather, the show centered on Monáe’s journey and path to living her authentic life after coming out at the age of 32. She was joined by her mother, Janice Hawthorne.

Sources close to Monae’s camp told HipHollywood the interview was taped prior to the Oscars.

Based on the promo trailer season 5 will also feature appearances by Ireland Baldwin and her mother, Kim Basinger and the mother of the late Miss USA Cheslie Kryst.

It was at the “red table” that Jada explained her “entanglement” with August Alsina. Jada and Will also opened up about their relationship, Jada not wanting to be married and initial struggles with motherhood.
