6 Must-See Movies Coming To Theaters This Christmas
December is here, and so are the end of year movies!
The last month of the year always brings with it popcorn tentpoles, and 2021 is no different. This year studios are releasing films back in theaters so patrons can celebrate the holidays at the movies. Here are the six movies being released just in time for Christmas that will help make your spirits bright!
The King’s Man (Dec 22)
The King’s Man, the prequel to the Kingsman movie series, charts the origins of the Kingsman secret service as an experienced agent and his new recruit attempt to stop history’s worst tyrants from bringing an end to the world. HipHollywood caught up with new cast members Djimon Hounsou, Gemma Arterton, and Rhys Ifans about their characters, but only using emoji’s.
Matrix Resurrections (Dec 22)
Over 20 years ago, The Matrix was released and blew the world away. Now, director Lana Wachowski is staking audiences back down the rabbit hole in this fourth installment. The film reunites Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss as cinematic icons Neo and Trinity in an expansion of their story plus a variety of new characters. HipHollywood hit the green carpet for the film premiere in San Francisco and asked the cast which role from their past they would like to resurrect.
Sing II (Dec 22)
The sequel to 2016’s animated musical Sing is finally here and it’s safe to say it hits a high note. The sequel directed by Garth Jennings showcases more than 40 pop tunes (from Billie Eilish to BTS) that will surely have audiences singing in the theaters. HipHollywood caught up with cast at the famed Greek Theater to chat about the film, their ideal singing partners and their favorite place to sing out loud.
A Journal for Jordan (Dec 25)
Denzel Washington is back in the director’s chair to tell the story of Sergeant Charles Monroe King in the A Journal For Jordan. He told HipHollywood it took 15 years to get the film — based on Dana Canedy’s New York Times bestseller of the same name, made.
American Underdog (Dec 25)
NFL legend Kurt Warner is getting the big screen treatment in the new film American Underdog. The autobiographical Christian sports drama follows the story of the NFL quarterback who told HH about teaming with The Erwin Brothers to make the film and giving star Zachary Levi some football pointers.
The Tragedy Of MacBeth (Dec 25)
Denzel competes with himself this Christmas, as he stars in The Tragedy of Macbeth while his film A Journal Jordan starring Michael B. Jordan also releases in theaters. In The Tragedy of Macbeth, from writer/director Joel Coen, Washington stars plays the titular character oppositeFrances McDormand, Corey Hawkins, Brendan Gleeson, and Harry Melling.
