Ellen Pompeo Revealed Time Denzel Washington Went HAM On Her

Ellen Pompeo claims she once went toe-to-toe with Denzel Washington on set .. and it didn’t go well.

According to Pompeo it went down on set of “Grey’s Anatomy” when Washington sat in as a guest director way back in 2016. The actress-producer shared the deets during the new episode of her “Tell Me with Ellen Pompeo” podcast.

She told her special guest, former co-star Patrick “McDreamy” Dempsey, that things between she and Denzel went left after she tried to check her scene partner.

“He was like, ‘I’m the director! Don’t you tell him what to do!’ I was like, ‘Listen, motherf–ker, this is my show! This is my set!’ Who are you telling? You barely even know where the bathroom is!’”

The TV veteran went on to proclaim her admiration and “utmost respect for him as an actor, as a director,” but also admitted that didn’t stop her from running to tattle to his wife, Pauletta Washington.

“I was mad at him. And I told his wife, I was like, ‘Yeah, he yelled at me today. He let me have it today, and I’m not OK with him, and I’m not looking at him, and I’m not talking to him.'”

Interestingly director Debbie Allen actually was the one to bring Washington in to direct an episode as a “surprise” for Pompeo.

Ya’ll know Denzel don’t play around about his directorial duties, so this doesn’t come as a surprise. He also has been known to check an out-of-pocket white woman —  like that time he shaded Katie Couric.
