Whitney Houston Fans Upset Over ‘The Bodyguard’ Remake
According to Variety, iconic blockbuster film “The Bodyguard,” is slated for a remake … but Whitney Houston fans aren’t having it.
Houston starred in the 1992 romantic drama opposite Kevin Costner. The film — about a former secret service agent who falls in love with a diva singer he’s been hired to protect from a stalker — racked up over $400 million at the worldwide box office.
Following news that Tony-nominated playwright Matthew López is working on a new version, fans took to Twitter to express their frustration.
“They’re remaking the bodyguard? why does everything need a remake?” Said one fan, with a Houston meme.

The Bodyguard soundtrack is one of the greatest soundtracks of all time — thanks to Houston mega hits “Run to You”, “I Have Nothing,” and “I Will Always Love You”.
Lawrence Kasdan the writer-producer of the original film is involved in the new project. Lopez who penned “The Inheritance,” has been hired to write a reimagining of the film at Warner Bros.
No cast has been set but names like Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson to Channing Tatum and Cardi B have been floated around.
Still it sounds like Houston, we have a problem!
