Gregg Leakes Dies Following Battle With Colon Cancer
Gregg Leakes has passed away at the age of 66.
Leakes most notably known for appearing alongside his wife, actress & TV personality NeNe Leakes on 12 seasons of Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Atlanta, died “peacefully” on Wednesday at his home in Atlanta, GA.
Publicist and longtime family friend Ernest Dukes confirmed the news in a statement to HipHollywood.
“Today the Leakes family is in deep pain with a broken heart. After a long battle with cancer, Gregg Leakes has passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by all of his children, very close loved ones and wife Nene Leakes,” said Dukes.
“We ask that you pray for peace and strength over their family & allow them to mourn in private during this very very difficult time.”
As previously reported, Leakes’ condition took a turn for the worse in August during which time he was hospitalized. A source close to the family told HH exclusively that Nene has been by his side everyday and in the evenings running the families new restaurant and lounge, The Linnethia.
On Saturday a video of Leakes inside her lounge surfaced where she revealed to patrons that Gregg was at home fighting for his life. “My husband is transitioning to the other side,” she said.
Gregg, who was diagnosed with Stage III colon cancer in 2018, had been in remission for two years. In June, Nene revealed he was hospitalized and recovering from surgery following the return of his cancer.
