Issa Rae Has Been Ready For The End Of ‘Insecure’ For Quite Some Time!

Issa Rae is ready to move on, whether you are or not. As she readies the 5th and final season of Insecure she’s looking ahead to bigger things, while also reminiscing about the past.

Fans have been dreading this moment since Issa announced it earlier this year…

But now, we’re learning even more about what went into the decision to call it quits. While in the press room after winning TWO NAACP Image Awards, Rae revealed that she’s been ready for the end on Insecure since season three.

“I’ve been wrapping my head around this since candidly, season 3,” the 36 year-old mogul shared. “But I’m so grateful to be able to play this character, who is obviously a version of me, and in the same way that I want this character to grow, I want to be able to grow too. So I think that’s what comes with it — I’ve played her for a long time, and I have so much more that I want to do.”

Issa also opened up about soaking up all the love and support from her on set ‘Insecure’ fam.

“But being on set everyday, I’m definitely taking it all in on a different level now, just in terms of, ‘Wow, I love this family. This is my family,’ ” she explained. “And we’ve done so much and these people are incredible, and I feel so blessed to work with them. I know I’ll look back on this time very, very fondly, as I do now.”

We’re sad to see it go, but we know we’ll love season five when it airs later this year! Oh, and Issa promised it will be “more than eight episodes.” #praisehandsemoji
