Nicole Ari Parker Sees Art Imitating Life In ‘Chicago PD’ Role
“Chicago P.D.” is tackling timely issues and stories that feel ripped from the headline for its eight season. And the addition of Nicole Ari Parker, gives the show an interesting, yet necessary, dynamic.
Parker plays Deputy Superintendent Samantha Miller — she’s no nonsense, smart, and tough as hell. But, what Nicole really loves about the character, and the show as a whole, is that addressing police reform is of the utmost importance. Parker’s character tackles police brutality and breaches on the force, but also knows how important it is that she does her job with the police force on her side. It’s a delicate balance, but one that’s given the 50-year-old actress a new perspective when thinking about the current, real-life relationship between cops and civilians.
HH had the pleasure of chatting with Nicole about her role and the eye-opening experiences she’s had because of it…
“Chicago P.D.” airs Wednesdays at 10/9c on NBC. You can see Nicole Ari Parker returns in the March 10th episode.
