Meek Mill Angers Kobe Bryant Fans With ‘Choppa’ Lyrics
Meek Mill, what were you thinking? That’s the question everyone is asking the Philly MC after his latest song leaked with lyrics referencing Kobe Bryant.
An audio snippet of his upcoming track Don’t Worry (RIP Kobe) ft. Lil Baby has surfaced. In Meek’s mind it may have been in tribute, but the actual lyrics have fans thinking otherwise. At one point the 33-year-old rapper states, “Yeah, and if I ever lack, I’m goin’ out with my chopper, it be another Kobe,” referencing the tragic helicopter crash that took the NBA legend’s life.
Almost immediately, folks on Twitter bashed the rapper for his subpar bars…

Meek seemingly respond to the backlash telling his detractors to “wake up.”

In addition to Mill’s lyrics, Baby also references Bryant with the line, “I damn near want to have a son so I can name him Kobe, daughter GiGi.” He has not received the same admonishment.
The lyrics for the song have been removed from Genius (where the originally surfaced), but you can still listen to the track HERE.
What are your thoughts — tacky or tribute?
