5 Things We Learned From The Wendy Williams Movie

We knew the Wendy Williams biopic was going to be juicy, but we weren’t ready for this. 

Wendy Williams: The Movie premiered Saturday, January 30 and was the talk of Twitter particularly for all the tea spillage. Lifetime followed that with the documentary Wendy Williams: What A Mess which was even more raw and revealing. Here’s 5 things we learned.

She Got Pregnant By Eric B & Had An Abortion

Wendy revealed that she dated rap star Eric B of Eric B & Rakim in the early days of her radio career. Unfortunately things didn’t go well. Williams shares that he almost ruined her credit after she rented him a car. She also got an abortion without telling him. Eric has responded to the claims with a post on Instagram that read: “To hilarious I laughed to well it made for great Tv But the truth is something different Try that !!!!!!!”

Her Cocaine Habit Almost Killed Her

The documentary and biopic delved deep into Wendy’s substance abuse struggles. The talk show host was seen smoking crack and snorting cocaine noting that it suppressed her appetite. She also admitted to getting high five-times a week and passed out and almost died once while in the radio station bathroom.

She Suffered Multiple Miscarriages 

Then there were her fertility issues … issues she thought were “karma” and “punishment” because of her gossip slinging and her previous abortion. In the film Williams shares the heartbreak she felt after suffering two miscarriages at 5 months pregnant. Finally after consulting another doctor she learned she had Graves Disease and needed to be on bed rest during her pregnancy with son Kevin Hunter Jr.

She Was Married Before Kevin Hunter

We also learned that before her marriage to cheating husband Kevin Hunter, she was married before. Williams called it a “starter marriage” and says that it wasn’t even worth talking about. The marriage only lasted five months.

She Entered A Sober Living Home Against Her Wishes

In 2018, the host revealed that she had been living in a sober house and rehabilitation facility. In the movie, it is revealed that Hunter actually arranged for Williams to live there after the host passed out on the air. In the documentary Williams reveals before her frightening on air collapse, she had just found out that Hunter’s mistress was having a baby. She also revealed that Hunter made her enter rehab, but she had only started drinking to cope with his affair.
