Oops! Missy Says Tweet’s Hit Song Was Never About Masturbation
When Tweet dropped “Oops (Oh My)” in 2002 it was an instant hit. The combination of impeccable vocals and a sultry beat was a treat for the ears, but it was the risque lyrics that really set the song apart in a way that was new and refreshing. But now, almost 20 years later, we are learning that the lyrics didn’t mean what we thought they did.
To us, “Oops” was a self-pleasure anthem — a musical masturbation guide, if you will. The titillating track was produced by Timbaland and featured guest vocals by Missy Elliott … also another surefire recipe for a hit. In the bridge, Tweet and Missy go back and forth singing:
Umm I was looking so good I couldn’t reject myself
(I looked over to the left)
Umm I was feeling so good I had to touch myself
(I looked over to the left)
Umm I was eyein’ my thighs butter pecan brown
(I looked over to the left)
Umm comin’ outta my shirt and then the skirt came down
But now, it’s Elliott telling us that those words were an appreciation for melanin, not masturbation.
#Funfact this song was never bout Masturbation it was always about her appreciating her Dark Skin (Self Love)when she looked in the mirror🙂 it was the listeners that thought it was about sex & just ran with it… & we just let the consumers mind create what they wanted🙌🏾 https://t.co/Vd9NHfuzJR

Look, Missy has no reason to lie, so we believe her — however, she has to agree, the lyrics were a bit misleading right?
Clearly, the musical chemistry between Missy and Tweet was undeniably, and luckily we’ll be getting more from them. When we talked to Tweet just last month, the songstress said she’s been in the lab with ME cooking up something good.
