Keyshia Cole Tested Positive For COVID-19, Apologizes For Being Late To Verzuz Battle
Keyshia Cole is coming clean about why she was over an hour late to her Verzuz battle with Ashanti.
During a recent interview on her Instagram Live, she explained she was having some major technical issues with her audio and visual and didn’t want to have another Teddy Riley situation.
“I want to apologize for not sitting my ass in that seat. OK? Because I was there and I should’ve sat down,” she said. “I should’ve just sat in the seat no matter if I felt like the visual wasn’t clear … they said my music wasn’t gonna be right or whatever it was.”
“I think, more so than anything, people wanted me to sit, be present…even though they didn’t know that I was present,” she continued before noting that it was actually O.T. Genasis who got her WiFi clear.

A few days after the battle she told The Shade Room that she tested positive for COVID-19 on January 13th, which prevented her from having any rehearsals with the Verzuz crew.
“I was feeling really fatigued and once I lost my sense of smell, I was like ‘damn I got COVID’,” she said.
You recall the battle had to be postponed twice because Ashanti tested positive and then a spike in positive cases caused the second scheduled date to get delayed.
In her IG Live, Keyshia only mentioned her “health issue” but said it had nothing to do with how the battle played out. She addressed fans thinking she had an attitude but said she was just really nervous.
“I was so nervous, when I first went out I was shaking, I was like Oh My God,” she revealed.”But I always get nervous no matter what show I do.”
