Ashanti vs. Keyshia Verzuz Battle Postponed AGAIN Due To Covid & The Attempted Coup
This Verzuz battle has been brewing for quite some time, but it looks like we’ll have to wait even longer to see Ashanti and Keyshia Cole duke it out.
The Verzuz team just announced that the musical toe-to-toe between the two R&B songstresses has to be reschedule again due to COVID-19 — the déjà vu is astounding. But, that’s not all, in their statement they’re also citing the emotional toll of the MAGA mobs terrorist attack on the Capitol building as a reason to cancel tomorrow’s battle.
As you may remember, the initial battle between Ashanti and Keyshia was scheduled for December 12, 2020. Unfortunately, Ashanti contracted COVID-19 just days before the event and had to cancel. The battle was then reschedule for January 9th — but alas, here we are.
As expected, the news is disappointing to fans. However, many of them are pointing out that the Verzuz battles were never intended to be in-person in the first place.
The whole point of verzuz was to be socially distant in the first place! It was the answer to the pandemic, so for the pandemic to be the reason why this can't go on is ludicrous.

What? All to show some baby shower chairs and to sell ciroc

Good. Nobody told y’all to do that shit anyway. Should’ve kept it socially distanced, like it was in the first place. It encouraged people to get comfortable with quarantine, party from afar; y’know, slow the spread? No. Y’all wanna be cute and throw parties n shit.

Y’all traded the pure spirit of Black artistry and togetherness you had in the beginning for corporate dollars and now look. Back at the beginning. I’m glad because we watched #verzuz to vibe, reconnect, and reminisce, not look at glammed up sets and sponsorship. Glad to go back. pic.twitter.com/yxPfeBzEJ3

A new date for the battle between Keysh and ‘Shanti has not been determined. Do you think Verzuz should just stick to the original script or do you like seeing the artist in the same (socially distant) room?
