Is Da Baby Done Rapping?!
When we need something with some “BOP” in it, he was right there for us. But, now it sounds like Da Baby is ready for retirement. What is we gon’ do?!
Da Baby, real name Jonathan Lyndale Kirk, recently reflected on his impressive career in an interview with XXL Magazine. Although 2020 hit some folks hard, Kirk had quite the year.
“During the pandemic, I’ve been the longest-lasting artist on Billboard, fo’sho,” affirms the 28-year-old rapper, who dropped the deluxe version of BLAME IT ON BABY in August. “So, I feel like I definitely adapted to it and made it happen. I like the results of, you know, the work I put in during the pandemic fo’sho.”
But, even though things are going obviously well for the rapper, he’s hoping to wrap up his rap career in 5 years in order to focus on helping others reach their goals.
“Billion Dollar Baby Entertainment, five years, definitely gonna be like one of the hottest labels in the game …. Five years, I’ma be retired in five years,” he reveals. “I won’t be rapping in five years. I won’t be rapping. I’ll be creating other superstars.”
In addition to creating more stars, Baby wants to cement his legacy in the form of a biopic. But who would play him? Da Baby wants to play Da Baby!
“I’ve already been sent scripts. Yeah, I would fo’sho. From a younger age, then all the way up until the present time. I’ll take it there. I gotta crazy story. My story’s crazy and it keeps getting crazier. I seen it all. That’s gonna be a good one.”
