Hol’ Up … SZA Was NOT Underage When She Was Dating Drake

Finding out that, at one point, SZA was dating Drake was surprising enough. But, finding out that she may have been just 17-years-old when it happened was a whole ‘nother level of shocking information. Luckily, the “Supermodel” singer is clearing things up and letting folks know there was nothing illegal about their love.

Drake put their dating history on blast in the new 21 Savage track, “Mr. Right Now,” where he raps:

“Yeah, said she wanna f**k to some SZA, wait / ‘Cause I used to date SZA back in ’08.”

Now, the internet sleuths promptly did the math and realized that SZA, whose birthday is November 8, 1990, would have most likely been 17 (inching up on 18) during their tryst. However, the singer is saying not so fast — Drake got the dates wrong! In a series of Tweets, SZA confirmed that she and Drizzy were certainly an item for a brief period of time, but says it happened in ’09 NOT ’08. So why did Drake say something different? Apparently, it was just a case of creative license.

Call us crazy, but there are some times in life where being accurate is most important than creative — and this is definitely one of those times. Take a listen to the song below and let us know what Champagne Papi could have rhymed with “’09.”
