Awkward & Awesome: The Brandy And Monica Verzuz Left Fans Reeling!

It was the event we thought would never happen. And then when we found out it actually was happening, we couldn’t wait for the day. But, finally, the Brandy and Monica Verzuz event went down on Monday night and it was everything we’d hope it would be and more!

The build up was everything. Fans immediately started taking sides and placing bets on who would walk away victorious in the battle. But, if we’re keeping it a buck, this wasn’t a battle, it was an appreciation of two impactful artists who had robust catalogs and brought back all the 90s nostalgia we needed.

The event started with a surprise guest — Kamala Harris stopped by to share her excitement and also thank the singers for supporting Michelle Obama’s When We All Vote campaign. Brandy and Monica crafted special merch for the battle, with all proceeds going to the organization.

But some fans also noticed the shade. At times, the banter between the two singers was a bit off, awkward, and uncomfortable to say the least. Monica admitted she hadn’t spoken to Brandy in about 8 years and you got the impression that was due to some sort of fallout. However, they let bygones be bygones and apparently smoothed things over before hitting the Verzuz stage.
