The Bachelorette: 5 Things To Know About Tayshia Adams
ICYMI, Season 16 of The Bachelorette is shaking things up. According to reports Clare Crawley will exit The Bachelorette early and Tayshia Adams will step in.
Clare reportedly fell in love with contestant Dale Moss after just 12 days and basically refused to leave her hotel to go on dates with other guys. In other words, she appears to have straight-up quit, and now most of the season will star Tayshia. Fans came to know and love her from The Bachelor and Bachelor in Paradise.
Adams will be the second black Bachelorette following Rachel Lindsey. But for folks who aren’t familiar and just saw her face on their social media timeline, here’s five things you need to know.
She’s Bi-Racial
The 29-year-old reality star is biracial. Her mother, Rosario, is white, and her father, Desmond, is Black. She is extremely close to her parents, as well as her brothers, Desmond Jr. and Brice, and sister, Dominique. As fans saw during Adams’ hometown date on The Bachelor, her parents are protective over her following her divorce, but ultimately just want her to be happy.
She Was On The Bachelor & Bachelor In Paradise.
Tayshia first gained national recognition after appearing as a contestant on season 23 of The Bachelor. She was one of the final two contestants, alongside Hannah Godwin, both of whom were eliminated when Colton Underwood decided to end the show to pursue Cassie Randolph. After being eliminated from the show, she appeared on season six of Bachelor in Paradise in August 2019, where she started dating fellow contestant John Paul Jones. The two split in September of 2019, prior to the show’s finale.
She’s Got Brains & Beauty
She attended Concordia University Irvine and graduated in 2012 with a bachelor degree in biology. For years she worked as a phlebotomist (the persons who draws your blood at the doctors office). She then followed her passion for interior design and works at an interior design firm.
She’s Passionate About The BLM Movement
Tayshia is a serious advocate for the rights of African Americans. On Instagram she’s been using her voice to bring awareness to the ongoing fight against racial injustice and police brutality. She posted a photo of herself at a protest for racial equality in June.
She’s Been Married Before
Tayshia got divorced from her first husband Joshua Bourelle back in October 2017, after less than two years of marriage. She opened up about the split last year on Dean Unglert’s podcast Help! I Suck at Dating.
“I felt a lot of pressure to make sure that my marriage worked… I made sure to do everything I needed to do in order to know that I did everything I could at the end of the day. It definitely was scary to tell my parents it’s just not working out,” she said.
