August Alsina Says He Was Deeply In Love With Jada Pinkett-Smith

August Alsina is finally addressing rumors that he was romantically involved with Jada PInkett-Smith. For years it’s been rumored the two were romantically involved but neither have confirmed or denied it … until now.

Alsina sat down with Angela Yee for an in depth interview discussing his new album “The Product III: stateofEMERGEncy,” and also spoke about his love life.

When asked what was the real situation with Pinkett-Smith, Alsina didn’t out right say they were romantically involved. Instead he admitted to being deeply in love with Jada and said he spoke to Will about his feelings.

“I actually sat down with Will and had a conversation, due to the transformation from their marriage to life partnership – that they’ve spoken on several times. And it not involving romanticism – He gave me his blessing – I totally gave myself to that relationship for years of my life.”

Exactly what he gave his blessing to was not clear. But according to the 27-year-old he was deeply devoted and committed to her.

“I truly and really, really deeply loved and have a ton of love for her,” he said. “I devoted myself to it. I gave my full self to it. So much so that I can die right now and be okay with knowing that I truly gave myself to someone. I really loved a person.”

Jada revealed on an episode of Red Table Talk that the family initially met August in London backstage at Wireless Festival in 2015, where the Smith kids were both performing. Jada said they became a constant support system for August, helping him overcome his addiction to pain pills.

That same year in 2015, Alsina was spotted vacationing with the Smith family (minus Will). It all seemed innocent with Alsina calling Jada “Ma” and “best-friend” on posts on social media.

Then the singer made an Instagram post in honor of Pinkett’s 47th birthday that got folks thinking there was more to their relationship. In the post Alsina proclaimed his love for the Baltimore native and said she was “nothing like the rest”.

The rumors were heightened with the release of his song “Nunya,” in which he references an “actress putting on a show” by the name of Koren, which is Pinkett-Smith’s middle name. He later denied that she was the inspiration behind the song.

Alsina told Yee that he finally felt compelled to speak his truth because the rumors started taking a toll on him and costing him friendships.

“Contrary to what some may believe I’m not a troublemaker,” he said. “People can have whatever ideas they like but what I’m not ok with is when my character is in question.”

He continued, “I’ve lost money, friendships, relationships behind it and I think it’s because people don’t necessarily know the truth but I’ve never done anything wrong. I love those people, they are literally like my family.”

When asked if it’s disappointing that Jada never addressed their situation he said, “I’m only responsible for what I do.”

“This conversation is difficult because it’s so much that is hard for people to understand, but once it starts effecting me and my livelihood I have to speak up.”
