Drake Drops ‘Toosie Slide’ With Quarantine-Themed Music Video
As promised Drake dropped the single for “Toosie Slide” at the stroke of midnight Thursday. The Canadian rapper announced he was releasing the song after a teaser went around on TikTok, the social media app that flipped the switch on his single “Nonstop” and made it a viral dance challenge.
In the clip social media influencer Toosie can be seen dancing along to the tracks catchy chorus. We’re sure this was not a coincidence but instead a well-played move by Drizzy to dominate the charts and TikTok once again.
As such, the rapper also decided to capitalize on the coronavirus craze with what else … a quarantine-themed music video for the song. It opens on shots of deserted streets before moving to a masked Drake scoping out various trophies, Kobe jerseys, giant pieces of art, and crazy light fixtures. It then becomes clear the rap star is inside his palatial estate and not some luxury boutique he’s about to rob.
As he raps along to the lyrics wearing a camouflage jacket, black hoodie and gloves he begins doing the aforementioned TikTok dance around his house giving viewers a glimpse at his grand piano, marbled-tiled kitchen, olympic-sized pool and massive backyard. nIt then culminates in a fireworks show. We’re not going to lie, the house, which reportedly is his new home in Toronto is pretty sick. Not a bad place at all to self-quarantine.
Since the top of the year Drake has also been leaving breadcrumbs for his fans like linking up with Future again for the track “Life Is Good.”
He recently featured on Lil Yachty’s new song “Oprah’s Bank Account,” in addition to pushing out two more songs of his own, “When To Say When” and “Chicago Freestyle”. So could new album be on the horizon. We think so.
