5 Signs Jurnee Smollet’s Marriage Was On The Rocks

It’s over for Jurnee Smollett and Josiah Bell. The Friday Night Lights alum filed for divorce after nearly a decade of marriage. The couple, who had been friends for years, got hitched in October 2010. The Birds of Prey star and the musician share 3-year-old son Hunter. Us Weekly  broke the story but didn’t give many details on what happened. But there may have been signs her marriage was in turmoil. Here are 5!

She Cut Her

You know what they say about a woman who cuts off all her hair? She’s either going thru a break up or a break down. Remember Britney Spears infamously shaved her head in 2007 when she reportedly was going through a mental breakdown. In 2017 Katy Perry chopped her locks into a blonde pixie cut after her breakup with current fiance Orlando Bloom. Jurnee who was known for her signature long curly locks debuted a new short do in January.

She’s Been Mum About Her Personal Life

We caught up with Jurnee in February while she was promoting her new film Birds Of Prey : And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn.” Journalist were told not to ask her any personal questions. We thought it was because of her brother Jussie Smollett’s legal woes, but could it have been because she and her husband had already split and a divorce announcement was coming?

She did however play along when we asked the cast to tell us their favorite break-up song.

She Promoted Her New Film Solo

And speaking of Birds of Prey, the 33-year-old promoted the film sans her hubby. We get it, maybe Josiah couldn’t travel with her as she promoted the film in Europe and South America, but there was also no sign of him at the Hollywood premiere where you’d typically see ones family or spouse.

She Hasn’t Posted Her Husband Since October

Jurnee and Bell last posted about each other on social media in October 2019.

“In honor of my QUEEN’S special day, I’m going to let a clip from my upcoming EP #psistillloveyou speak for me,” he captioned a picture of the pair set to the song at the time via Instagram. “@jurneebell ‘You’re my goddess / From a touch of heaven’s chosen…..’ I love you my baby. Happy Birthday!”

Jurnee reposted the note on her account telling people to check out his new EP. Since she hasn’t posted anything else about her hubby.

Their Last Public Appearance Was in 2018

Jurnee Smollett attends the 49th NAACP Image Awards at Pasadena Civic Auditorium on January 15, 2018 in Pasadena, California.

The couple was last seen together at the 49th NAACP Image Awards in 2018. Since then Jurnee has attended several red carpet events, but Josiah was not pictured. She even attended the Vanity Fair party in February solo.
