DJ and producer, DJ Jazzy Jeff, has been suffering from pneumonia and may have coronavirus.
The legendary deejay, whose birth name is Jeffrey Townes took to his Instagram Story to post up a few messages warning fans about the importance of staying home, while revealing that he was fighting pneumonia in both lungs himself.
“Pls say a prayer for all the sick… it’s a lot more than you know!!” Jazzy Jeff wrote on Monday. “I’m recovering from pneumonia in both my lungs… I lost my sense of smell and taste which is a main sign of the virus. I would NOT be here if not for my guardian angel of a wife!”

He did not officially confirm his COVID-19 diagnosis, he did warn his followers to take warnings about the virus seriously and practice social distancing to protect themselves.
“Please take this serious… It does not care who you are… what you do or what your plans are. Stay safe,” Jazzy Jeff concluded.
For millions of fans, Jeff is a national treasure known for his role on the hit sitcom The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air, and as one half of the rap duo DJ Jazzy and The Fresh Prince aka Will Smith. Smith has yet to respond to news of Jeff’s illness.
On Wednesday after word of his condition spread on social media he updated his followers saying he was good. “I’m GOOD!! Thank God!!! I posted yesterday to bring awareness to how serious this is… Pls look out for each other. Thank You.”
The deejay and actor is the latest celebrity to fall ill during the coronavirus pandemic. As previously reported Idris Elba, Kevin Durant, raps stars Slim Thug and Scarface and most recently comedian Michael Yo have all revealed they contracted the virus and are recovering.
