Lena Waithe & Alana Mayo’s Split Shocks Social Media … What Went Wrong?

It’s only been two months since Lena Waithe and Alana Mayo announced that they tied the knot — but, they honeymoon is already over.

“After careful thought and consideration, we have decided to part ways,” read a joint statement from the couple’s reps to E! News on Wednesday. “We have nothing but support for one another and ask that you respect our privacy during this time.”

It was just this past November when Waithe revealed the two had secretly, and spontaneously, wed in San Francisco. While visiting the Ellen DeGeneres show the “Queen & Slim” writer shared, “We didn’t make any announcements. We went to San Francisco. We went to the courthouse.” Waithe said getting married at the courthouse was Mayo’s idea “as all good things are.” Lena continued, “And she was just driving and she saw the courthouse and she said, ‘We should get married there,’ And I said, ‘Cool, I’m down.'” At that point, the two had been dating for years and had been engaged since 2017.

While the joint statement is vague on the particulars, rumor has it, the writing was on the wall BEFORE they even said I do. Love B. Scott dropped the tea on what really happened between the two:

Well, according to our sources — the quickie wedding came after multiple instances of Lena’s infidelity. Lena went along with it as a way to placate Alana and salvage their relationship.

Despite their official union, Lena’s alleged cheating continued.

“Even after they married, Lena was still buying designer gifts — Chanel, Gucci — for other women.”
