If you watched Living Single then you know Maxine Shaw (“Attorney at Law”) was one of the funniest characters on the show. The trash-talking and unapologetically witty lawyer was at the time, a groundbreaking and a never before seen character for a black woman on TV.
Now with rumors of the show getting a reboot, can Erika Alexander bring her back to life? She told HipHollywood, she actually doesn’t know.
“That’s a good question, thank you for asking me that,” she said while at Essence Black Women in Hollywood. “Somethings are locked in time, and I’m not even that person anymore, and she’s grown too. She’s probably somewhere in some jail down in Mexico. So, it will be interesting to see as an actress how I can pop in or out.”
Just last year Queen Latifah confirmed a Living Single reboot was on the way. While appearing on Harry she said she has been talking to Yvette Lee Bowser who executive produced the series during it’s five season run about bringing it back to life.
Alexander however has not spoken to Latifah or any of the other cast members about the reboot, but is open to do something for the fans. “I’m glad that people really love Living Single and I would love to do something specifically for the fans. To me fans are family, but I don’t know if it’s going to be that.”
In the meantime, fans catch old episodes of Living Single on Hulu and Alexander who had a role in Get Out, on the Freeform series Beyond.
