Meet Danielle Herrington, the Compton native who just landed on the cover of Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit 2018 edition.
Herrington, who graces the cover in a sexy pink Ola Vida bikini, just made history as the third Black woman to ever be on the cover of SI swim since it’s inception in 1964. Danielle now joins the list alongside Tyra Banks (1997) and Beyonce (2005).
The 24-year-old traveled to Harbour Island, Bahamas for her photo shoot where she was surprised by Banks, who was the first Black woman to land on the cover of the coveted issue.
“Two of my role models are Tyra Banks and Beyoncé, so the fact that I get to join this incredible group of women as I become the third black model on the cover of SI Swimsuit is a dream come true,” Herrington said.
She added, “I am so excited to be part of this iconic brand that has long given identity and voice to women of all shapes, colors and beliefs. I hope that young girls who look at this cover are inspired to dream as big as I did and work hard to attain all their goals.”
It has been a busy week for Herrington, who also just walked in Philipp Plein’s runway show during New York Fashion Week.
