The truth should never cost you your job, but in this case it just might…
Jemele Hill was just being a beacon of truth when she tweeted that Donald Trump was a “white supremacist who has largely surrounded himself” with “other white supremacists.” Find. The. Lie!
Unfortunately, the SC6 with Michael and Jemele co-host landed in hot water with her ESPN employers who issued this little statement after receiving backlash over Hill’s comment:
“The comments on Twitter from Jemele Hill regarding the President do not represent the position of ESPN. We have addressed this with Jemele and she recognizes her actions were inappropriate.”
This isn’t the first time Jemele has used (what some deem as) controversial language while employed at ESPN. During the 2008 NBA Playoffs, Hill wrote in an editorial piece that, “Rooting for the Celtics is like saying Hitler was a victim. It’s like hoping Gorbachev would get to the blinking red button before Reagan. Deserving or not, I still hate the Celtics.” That opinion garnered her a one-week suspension.
If she got one-week for referencing Hitler, there’s no telling what will happen now that she’s set her sights on Trump. We’re praying for you girl!
