Now, we all know the Kardashians love Black culture more than overpriced cosmetics and exaggerated plastic surgery (and that’s saying a lot), but Kim’s latest stunt has folks saying she’s gone way too far with her “appreciation”!

It’s one thing to perpetually appropriate our culture, but we draw a line in the sand at blackface … and that’s precisely what people are accusing Kimmie of doing. After releasing promo photos for her upcoming cosmetic line, KKW Beauty, Twitter noticed the hue of the reality star’s skin was bit darker than normal.

Mrs. West heard the accusations and tried to clear her name in an interview with The New York Times:

Speaking of image, tell me about your side to the blackface controversy.

“I would obviously never want to offend anyone. I used an amazing photographer and a team of people. I was really tan when we shot the images, and it might be that the contrast was off. But I showed the image to many people, to many in the business. No one brought that to our attention. No one mentioned it.

Of course, I have the utmost respect for why people might feel the way they did. But we made the necessary changes to that photo and the rest of the photos. We saw the problem, and we adapted and changed right away. Definitely I have learned from it.”
