L.A. Reid’s unexpected exit from Epic Records left many questioning why the music exec. would leave so abruptly. Now we’re hearing a sexual assault accusation may be the reason.
Reid’s ousting hit the ‘net on Thursday, but just a few days later word of his allegedly inappropriate actions became the top story. The New York Post broke the story:
The 60-year old music industry veteran allegedly made inappropriate physical advances toward an assistant at last December’s company holiday party, among other instances, according to a March 22 letter a lawyer for the woman sent to Julie Swidler, Sony Music’s General Counsel, said a source who provided details from the letter.
Unfortunately, that’s not it. The letter also alleged that Reid asked the assistant to “lie down in bed with him and give him a hug while the two were at a hotel while traveling on business.”
Sony Music has only given one statement in regards to Reid departure: “L.A. Reid will be leaving the company.”
L.A. has remained mum on the accusations, but the married music man has been telling friends that he’s considering a move to Warner Music Group.
