Cuba Gooding Jr. learned of his father’s death while on the set of his new film, A Life in a Year. The project is shooting in Canada and HipHollywood can confirm that a much younger co-star consoled the actor after receiving devastating news that his father had been found dead inside a car back in Los Angeles.
Jaden Smith is that co-star who is appearing in the Will Smith-produced film alongside Cuba.
TMZ unveiled a photo taken by a bystander of a solemn Gooding shortly after hearing the news. The actor, clad in a sweater and tie, looked down as he made his way through the halls of the set.
As previously reported, Cuba Sr. was found dead in his car in Woodland Hills late Thursday. Details surrounding his death are not clear, but it was confirmed that drugs were found inside his vehicle. It’s believed that Gooding Sr. possibly overdosed.
The soul singer and father of four was most known for his 1972 classic, “Everybody Plays the Fool.” His two sons, Oscar winner Cuba Gooding Jr. and Omar Gooding, have had successful careers in Hollywood.
