Former New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez, who was sentenced to life behind bars for murder, was found dead inside his Massachusetts prison cell early Wednesday morning.

Prison officials have confirmed that Hernandez died after hanging himself in his cell. The suicide comes just days after being acquitted of a double murder.

According to a statement released by the Department of Correction, Aaron was discovered unresponsive inside his cell at the Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center in Shirley around 3 a.m. The 27-year-old was rushed to UMass Memorial-HealthAlliance Hospital in Leominster, where he was pronounced dead an hour later.

According to department spokesperson Christopher Fallon, the former tight end tied a bed sheet to the cell window to hang himself. In order to stop officials from entering, he attempted to jam the door with an array of items.

In 2015, Hernandez, who has a little girl with financée Shayanna Jenkins, was found guilty of first-degree murder of semi-pro football player, Odin Lloyd.

Crystal Smith Apologizes To Fans For Her Vicious Antics On ‘The Platinum Life’

Ne-Yo’s wife, Crystal Renay Smith, is apologizing to fans for her behavior on reality television.

On a recent episode of E!’s The Platinum Life, Smith got into a verbal altercation with Kid Ink’s wife, Asiah Collins. The argument was over how small a private jet was and according to Crystal, was she never intended for the discussion to escalate the way it did.”

“I just want to say to the young women that look up to me and that I motivate on a daily basis that sometimes you are taken out of our character. It’s ok to stand by what you believe in, which is what I did. But maybe not the way that I went about it. I don’t want you to do what I did.”

She added, “If I let you down, I promise I will get better. I’m a work in progress. Everyday is a new day to be better and I’m trying.”

Smith captioned the video, “Pride aside, I want all of you amazing women not to do what I’ve done but to learn from it. The tongue is mightier than the sword and I want us to learn to take the higher road in all situations. I will forever stand for what I believe is true but I’m not ignorant enough to not acknowledge my part in anything. Love you all for the OVERWHELMING SUPPORT and LOVE!”
