Tyler Perry’s father is doing well and in good spirits after almost being caught in a blazing house fire in Greensburg, Louisiana.

It was around 8 p.m. on Monday night when flames ripped through the home of Emmitt Perry after he “heard something popping in the attic.”

Perry revealed to local news station WBRZ, “I went upstairs and let the [attic] stairs down. I couldn’t smell any smoke. I didn’t see anything burning I then went to call the fire department, and my daughter was coming in the gate. And she said, ‘I already called them.'”

Perry was able to escape, but according to reports, the house is completely destroyed. “I made it out alive,” Perry said. “If it wouldn’t have happened then, me and my daughter would’ve probably been in there, and we would have burned up.”

Details surrounding the fire have not been unveiled, but it’s suspected that electrical problems are to blame.

Tyler, who reportedly bought the home before his mother passed away, has yet to comment on the fire.

The 2017 Emmy Awards were one of the most diverse shows to date, with 25 black nominees across the 18 television categories. But it was the Black love in the building that trumped all.

Emmy winner Sterling K. Brown wanted to thank his wife of eleven years during his acceptance speech, but unfortunately got cut off. The good news is The This Is Us actor, who won for Lead Actor in a Drama Series, picked up right where he left off backstage. “To my wife, Ryan Michelle Bathe, you are everything, you make my life worth living,” he said in the press room.

Emmy nominee Anthony Anderson arrived to the awards show with his wife, Alvina Stewart, in tow. The couple, who called off their divorce back in January, appeared to be madly in love and in great spirits.

Viola Davis, clad in a stunning orange ensemble courtesy of Zac Posen, walked the red carpet arm in arm with her husband Julius Tennon.

And Lena Waithe, who won an Emmy for writing the “Thanksiging” episode of Master of None, took a moment to thank her girlfirned Alona while accepting the coveted award. “I love you more than life itself,” she confessed.

Announcer Gabrielle Union turned heads on the carpet when she arrived hand in hand with her hubby Dwyane Wade.

And finally, LL Cool J and his wife of 22 years, Simone Smith, were “doin it” (pun intended), when they hit the carpet. Talk about one “shot at love” (also pun intended) … and they nailed it.
