Sorry, Bill O’Reilly, we’d say it’s a little too late for this apology.

The Fox News host released a statement on Tuesday afternoon apologizing for comparing Maxine Waters’ hairdo to James Brown.

“As I have said many times, I respect Congresswoman Maxine Waters for being sincere in her beliefs,” he said. “I said that again today on Fox & Friends calling her ‘old school.’ Unfortunately, I also made a jest about her hair which was dumb. I apologize.”

O’Reilly was blasted by folks on social media after suggesting during a segment on Fox & Friends that Waters’ hair was similar to that of the late legendary singer.

While discussing Waters’ recent comments regarding Trump supporters, O’Reilly said that he “didn’t hear a word she said. I was looking at the James Brown wig. Do we have a picture of James Brown? It’s the same wig.”

Co-host Brian Kilmeade then fired back with an inappropriate and sick joke about James’ 2006 death. He commented: “He’s not using it anymore. They just ― they finally buried him.”

And while the two morons got a kick out of comparing Maxine to the late singer, host Ainsley Earhardt defended Waters, saying: “You can’t go after a woman’s looks. I think she’s very attractive.”

O’Reilly then added: “I didn’t say she wasn’t attractive. I love James Brown but it’s the same hair James Brown, the Godfather of Soul, had … whatever it is, I just couldn’t get by it.”

It’s no secret that Bill is not only ignorant, but that he hits under the belt. Remember when he called Black people “ill-educated and have tattoos on their foreheads”?

Many Twitter users were very vocal about O”Reilly’s comments, most calling him racist and sexist. One Twitter user wrote: From Bill O’Reilly trying it w/Auntie Maxine & Spicer attempting to tell April Ryan what to do, white male privilege is out of control today.”

Many also raised the question as to why people are shocked by his comments, considering this is the same man who once allegedly physically assaulted his wife by dragging her down the stairs.

Actress Sophia Bush tweeted, “Bill O’Reilly is an asshole. A racist, misogynistic asshole.”

Exclusive: The Bullet Scars That Will Forever Haunt Sheryl Lee Ralph’s Son, Etienne Maurice

Sheryl Lee Ralph shared a graphic photo on Instagram earlier this week of her son, Etienne Maurice, laying in a hospital bed bandaged up from bullet wounds. The purpose of the image was to be yet another voice calling to end gun violence.

On Wednesday, students across the country walked out of class to protest against gun violence, something that hit home for Ralph four years ago. “This mother wants #gunreform now! #guncontrol now,” she wrote.

It was during a night out in West Philadelphia that Ralph’s then 22-year-old child was robbed at gunpoint and shot three times; twice in the leg and one which grazed his forehead.

So as Ralph joined Wednesday’s national conversation about gun laws, HipHollywood talked exclusively with Etienne who shared exactly what went down the night a gun could have taken his life for good.

“I was shot four years ago, November 9 … I was black out drunk. The next thing I know I remember I woke up in the hospital, doctor said I had two bullet holes in my leg and a grazed bullet hole above my eyebrow.”

Maurice, who was robbed for his iPhone and his wallet, went on to tell us that this is something that he is reminded of constantly. “Having been shot is something that I carry with me every day. I still have numbness at the bottom of my leg from the nerve damage.”

And while he will always remember how he felt knowing his life almost ended, Etienne had a hard time fathoming how his famous mother felt. “We had the conversation about it last week and she said she peed on herself,” he told us.

For Maurice, he’s proud to see young children use their voices to make change. “There’s so many angles where we can talk about gun violence and how it’s effecting different communities,” he said. “Gun reform needs to take place now.”

Since that night, he hasn’t picked up a drink and has been now sober for four years. As for the suspects, a father-son duo, they are behind bars for attempted man slaughter.
