Tamron Hall Was The Inspiration For ‘Being Mary Jane’?
Tamron Hall may have recently vacated her role on NBC’s the Today Show, but the veteran anchor’s likeness can still be seen on BET every Tuesday night.
Apparently Hall was the inspiration for the hit BET drama Being Mary Jane.
Show writer-producer Mara Brock Akil, told People that she used Hall as the muse for Gabrielle Union career-driven character. Akil who is good friends with Hall also defended her decision to leave just days after learning she’d be losing her 9 a.m. time slot to former Fox News star Megan Kelly.
“She wasn’t going to settle for sitting on the sidelines. In the end she basically said thank you, but no thank you,” said Akil. “Tamron’s a woman of integrity, and she’s writing her own story.”
But now, as Hall mulls her next move, the self-proclaimed workaholic is finally getting some time to focus on herself. As her pal Brock Akil says, “She deserves it.”
