Five Fun Facts To Know About ABC’s First Black ‘Bachelorette,’ Rachel Lindsay
You better start getting familiar with the name Rachel Lindsay because she just became the first Black lead on The Bachelorette.
The show’s host, Chris Harrison, announced on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday night that Lindsay will be the next woman to find love on the hit dating show.
Lindsay stopped by Good Morning America to discuss the upcoming season and suggested she doesn’t feel pressure as the first African-American female lead. “I don’t feel added pressure,” she said.
Lindsay, who appeared on this season of The Bachelor alongside Nick Viall, added, “I’m honored to have this opportunity and to represent myself as an African-American woman and I just hope that people rally behind me like they did in Nick’s season. Even though I’m an African-American woman, it’s not different from any other bachelorette.”

She’s A Lawyer: Rachel is a 31-year-old practicing civil defense litigation attorney at Cooper and Scully, P.C. in Dallas, Texas. The beauty received her law degree in 2011 from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI.
All About The Fam Bam: Rachel loves her family! She is constantly posting photos on Instagram of her family, including her mom, grandma, dad, nephew and younger twin sister. In one image with her sister, she used the #twins … but it’s unclear if they are really twins or if they just look completely and utterly identical.
Made History Twice: Not only is Rachel making history as the first Black lead on The Bachelorette; she also made history on the current season of The Bachelor after becoming the first Black contestant to ever win the first-impression rose.
Major Sports Fan: Rachel has made it wildly known that she loves sports. Given she lives in Dallas, the lawyer is a big time fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Dallas Mavericks.
Loves To Dance While Vacuuming: During The Bachelor intro package, the lawyer admitted to dancing to Michael Jackson and Prince while vacuuming her living room. “I love to blast music and I love to sing out loud … love to dance,” she said.
Thoughts On Love: Lindsay confirmed on the show that she doesn’t believe in love at first sight, but that “you can be connected to someone at first sight.”
