Tracee Ellis Ross Takes Home First Golden Globe Award
Tracee Ellis Ross can officially call herself a Golden Globe Award-winning actress.
Diana Ross’ daughter took home her first Golden Globe on Sunday night for her role as Rainbow Johnson on ABC’s black-ish. “Oh, yeah, oh, yeah … this is my first time here,” Ross said while accepting the award for Best Television Actress in a Musical or Comedy Series.
“This is for all the women, women of color and colorful people whose stories, ideas, thoughts are not always considered worthy and valid and important. But I want you to know that I see you, we see you.”
Tracy beat out Rachel Bloom from Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Veep’s Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Sarah Jessica Parker of Divorce, Insecure’s Issa Rae and Gina Rodriguez of Jane the Virgin.
“It is an honor to be on this show, blackish,” Ross explained. “To show the magic, the beauty and the sameness of a story and stories that are outside where the industry usually looks.”
This was Tracee’s first GG nomination. Congrats to the star.
